Everything in this world carries some or the other myth. it may be about Sun, Moon, trees, birds. food or wine. In case of wine too there are many beliefs,, whatever the region, religion or culture or traditions or customs may be. Few consider wine as a great medicine while others do not. Wines tastes much better with age is the same myth unlike others. Here we are going to check the truths about those top 10 myths which detract one from holding the glass of wine.
Let me clear you about the first myth, that wine goes better with the age. This myth is partially correct but certainly not in all the cases. It is true only in case of premium & high quality wines. Especially white wines should be consumed within a span of three years and red wine in two years.
Similarly, red wine as compared to white causes more headache is another myth. But it does not hold truth. Because red wines have less sulfite i.e. sulfur dioxide.
Storing an unfinished bottle of wine in the fridge is the only effective way is one more myth. This is not true in case of white wine, but red wine certainly looses its tone in terms of acidity and flavor.
One more myth about wine making is that, France is the country which produces most of the wine. But this is also not true. Instead of France, it is Italy, which takes highest production & offers the most variety. For revenue alone, France may be the correct answer.
If you let bottle uncorked for an hour, it tastes better, is also a belief. But this is just ineffective as the bottleneck which is narrow, may simply prevents air from opening up the wine.
Vintage wines are supposed to be expensive but this is not true. It’s a myth. In reality, most non-sparkling wines are vintage wines.
All wines have the same amount of alcohol, is what may people believe. Actually the level of alcohol depends upon amount of sugar which gets converted during fermentation. Last but not the least is the myth that the more a wine costs, the better it is. This is also not true. The price of wine depends upon too many factors right from vineyard to packaging. Similarly screw tops are sign of cheap wine, is also a related myth. Most of the wineries are using this technique by which they are simply avoiding cork contamination of their respective wines. Reserve wines are the topmost is yet another common myth amongst USA people.whereby consumers get confused. It is actually meant to designate the special wine only.
All German wines are sweet is one more belief, which is partially true.In my opinion, there are many popular belief that people carry which, all these are the false statements about the wine and does not carries the truth, may be fully or partially.
